The successful candidate will work with the hospice multidisciplinary team to provide specialist psychological assessments of individuals with palliative care needs. This will involve using complex psychological data to inform treatment plans and working with patients, families, and carers to provide support and guidance.
The Counsellor Specialist will also be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions, including one-to-one work, groups, and activities, to support individuals and their loved ones. This will involve drawing on different explanatory models and working with a range of professionals to provide comprehensive care.
The role will also involve providing specialist psychological advice and guidance to other professionals, participating in the development and delivery of teaching and training programs, and contributing to the evaluation of service quality and effectiveness.
The Counsellor Specialist will work autonomously and as part of a multi-professional team, prioritizing tasks and managing workload to meet the needs of patients and families. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will have a degree and professional qualification in counselling or psychology, with accreditation with a counselling profession. They will also have significant experience as a counsellor in specialist palliative care, with a strong understanding of complex psychological issues and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, and other professionals.
The successful candidate will also have experience of working autonomously and as part of a multi-professional team, with a flexible approach to work and changing priorities. They will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the work of the hospice and a willingness to continue developing their skills and knowledge through ongoing professional development.
