Junior AWS DevOps Engineer Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Junior AWS DevOps Engineer to join our experienced team. As a Junior AWS DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting with faster development deliveries, while ensuring operational quality is always improving.

Our team is positioned horizontally across product aligned teams with responsibilities that span web, mobile, API, and systems software. You will work closely with the DevOps team to streamline software delivery and ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our applications.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in DevOps practices and work with cutting-edge technologies. You will assist in the deployment and configuration of technologies and tools used in software development, including build servers, version control systems, and automated testing frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and configure technologies and tools used in software development
  • Assist in managing and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure and services
  • Work together with the development team to resolve problems with infrastructure and software deployments
  • Work with infrastructure as code to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration
  • Create and maintain scripts and automation tools to simplify infrastructure administration and software deployment
  • Help with access control and vulnerability management, as well as monitoring and maintaining system security
  • Contribute to the setup of monitoring and alerting systems to track system and application performance
  • Document processes, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and future reference
  • Keep abreast of current DevOps and software development trends and best practices

Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of DevOps principles, practices, and methodologies
  • Basic system administration skills for both Windows and Linux-based operating systems
  • Scripting and automation skills using languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and processes
  • Familiarity with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
  • A basic grasp of network concepts, firewalls, and security best practices can help in ensuring the security and reliability of the infrastructure
  • Proficiency in tools for monitoring and setting up alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues
