HSE Specialist Job Description

NOV Inc. is seeking a highly skilled HSE Specialist to provide support across two of our service center facilities in Altens and Portlethen. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing new HSE programs, maintaining existing systems and processes, and working closely with facility management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and maintain HSE processes and programs in alignment with the global HSE Management System.
  • Develop and review risk assessments and job safety analyses, and advise on HSE regulatory compliance and industry practices.
  • Develop HSE training programs and matrices, lead HSE meetings, toolbox talks, and management reviews, and promote safe working practices.
  • Conduct facility HSE audits, participate in workplace inspections, and act as the primary contact for internal and external HSE inspections.
  • Promote near-miss reporting, record, and investigate workplace incidents, and monitor the effective and timely closeout of corrective actions.
  • Collect and monitor data for ESG reporting, maintain emergency response plans, and schedule emergency drills. Report monthly on HSE key performance indicators and objectives.
  • Document and develop facility-specific and field-specific Level III HSE procedures, business continuity plans, and maintain COSHH assessments and hazardous communication information.
  • Coordinate waste stream programs and disposal processes to maximize re-use and recycling opportunities.
  • Manage contractor management protocols, permits, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum requirement).
  • Auditor / Lead Auditor qualification (preferably ISO 45001 / ISO).
  • Environmental qualification (IEMA preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in effective HSE risk management and applying the hierarchy of controls.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in the Energy sector and/or HSE.
  • Proficiency in IT applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Approachable demeanor with a commitment to professional and ethical conduct.
