Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated individual to join our award-winning team in delivering community-based cardiology services across the Wirral. As a Clinical Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the clinical and admin team in developing a community cardiology service that meets the evolving needs of the Wirral population.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing ECGs, fitting diagnostic devices, and taking basic measurements such as height, weight, and blood pressure. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team and under direction are essential. You will also be required to use your initiative and have excellent organizational skills to manage a busy and challenging workload.

Job Responsibilities

This is a patient and public-facing role, requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexibly across different locations. Main responsibilities include carrying out diagnostic tests, programming and fitting ambulatory monitors, and preparing patients for clinical assessment by doctors and specialist nurses.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Evidence of maths, English, and IT competencies
  • Evidence of further training, ECG study day, Venepuncture, NVQ Level 2/3
  • Up-to-date BLS and ILS certification
  • Current experience of working within a clinical team
  • Ability to use own initiative and act in critical circumstances identifying and acting upon abnormal results critically abnormal ECG

Desirable

  • Evidence of competence and recent working with specialist investigations 12 lead Resting ECGs, Spirometry, 24 Hour ECG Holter Monitoring, 24 Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor Fittings, Cardio memo Event Recorders
  • Knowledge and interest in cardiovascular disease and health promotion

Skills and Abilities

  • Evidence of team working and working under direction
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy, challenging, and expanding department
  • Good physical skills, accuracy important with hand/eye co-ordination accuracy required when performing tests
  • Good IT skills and ability to use various software packages and systems to facilitate patient care including the downloading and uploading of data
