Job Title: Commercial Lawyer

Tata Communications is seeking a highly motivated and qualified lawyer to join its legal department in a commercial legal role. The successful candidate will be part of our Commercial Legal Team.

Job Summary:
  • Provide commercial transactional support to the European business, including the UK and continental Europe.
  • Support cross-functional projects and initiatives, working with business teams located within Europe or in other jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements for the provision of services, advising business/sales teams on relevant issues.
  • Support Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and contracts, negotiating new contracts and handling in-life contract matters, including interpretation of terms and amendments.
  • Provide legal support for miscellaneous matters, including human resources, leases/facilities, and other sales contracts.
  • Support Senior Counsel and senior team members on complex transactions or other matters, as requested.
  • Keep senior stakeholders informed and escalate issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage multiple matters simultaneously, proactively engaging with internal stakeholders to drive deals to closure.
  • Communicate effectively with multiple internal customers, including senior stakeholders.
  • Provide training for business/sales teams on legal or related issues for commercial agreements or processes.
  • Develop knowledge of when to interface with and refer matters to other legal department teams, ensuring timely closure of transactions in accordance with Company strategy and policies.
  • Support miscellaneous know-how and best practice documentation projects, including creating and updating standard templates.
  • Perform legal research/analysis and draft opinions and position papers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) degree with admission as a Solicitor/Lawyer in the UK (or other common law jurisdiction) and/or civil law jurisdiction.
  • At least five years of post-qualification experience, with experience in general corporate, commercial, and contract law.
  • Knowledge and experience related to telecommunications or other technology industries.
  • Excellent technical drafting skills with a strong understanding of contract law.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with other members of the legal team, with judgment to escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Time management skills with ability to manage multiple transactions and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an unstructured, fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
  • Motivated and proactive individual who provides solutions and closes matters promptly.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a remote-working environment.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge or experience of the civil law system.
  • Experience of negotiating global or multi-jurisdiction contracts and deals.
