About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Engineer to join our Rates Platform Engineering Team at JP Morgan Chase Bank, National Association. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing system automation solutions that enable our systems to be easily rebuilt in the event of a cyber-attack.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop software solutions to automate system rebuild processes
  • Configure and integrate system APIs to deliver necessary automation
  • Develop secure and high-quality production code and maintain system components
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications
  • Analyze and develop visualizations and reporting from large data sets to drive improvements in software applications and systems
  • Identify and address hidden problems and patterns in data to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture
Requirements
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and proficient in applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience with Linux systems, their design, development, configuration, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficient in shell scripting (e.g., bash) and comfortable operating in a Linux terminal
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with different tools and components used across the full-stack
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Proficient in using agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Proficient in source code management systems, including git
  • Experience with RedHat Linux
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Windows development tools like IntelliJ IDEA
  • Experience with network APIs (e.g., REST, OpenAPI)
  • Experience with Linux automation systems (e.g., Ansible)
  • Experience in working with Cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS)
  • Experience developing in a language like Python, Java, or Smalltalk
  • Familiar with Jira project management tooling
  • Experience with wiki-based documentation systems (e.g., Confluence)
