We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Early Years professional to join our team as Deputy Manager. Our private nursery is a home-from-home setting with a brand new unit catering for up to 60 children aged 12 months to 5 years old.

The nursery operates between the hours of 8:00 am - 6:00 pm, offering a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow and develop.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To work closely with the nursery manager to ensure the smooth operation of the nursery, covering their duties in their absence.
  • To support the development of a high-quality establishment that meets the needs of children from birth to 5 years.
  • Assist in leading and implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, providing inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the nursery.
  • To maintain Health and Safety standards appropriate for young children, ensuring staff awareness and compliance.
  • Provide high standards of childcare and education, including monitoring and reviewing provision, ensuring a safe and caring environment for the emotional, social, and educational development of children through individual attention and group activities.
  • Responsible for assisting the Nursery Manager with curriculum planning, staffing levels, and behaviour management.
  • To assist with administrative procedures involved with registration, place allocation, and other related matters.
  • To be responsible for a group of key children, including observations, assessment, and individual planning.
  • To contribute fully to staff meetings and training sessions outside working hours, as required.
  • To identify staff development and training needs.
  • To be responsible for students on placement within the nursery.
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment meeting the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds and stages of development.
  • To maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
Requirements:
  • A minimum level 3 early years education and childcare qualification or equivalent is essential.
  • Proven post-qualification experience in working in early education and childcare, along with experience of line managing staff.
  • Ability to help the Nursery Manager manage resources effectively, ensuring expenditure aligns with budget requirements.
  • Ability to inspire people to deliver results and set clear objectives for self and team, leading and managing the team in raising standards for the nursery.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required if your current certificate is not subscribed to the update service.
