We are seeking a highly experienced Intermediate Level Systems Architect to join our team at Macdonald, Dettwiler And Associates Corporation. This role is based in the UK and will involve working on complex technological systems.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to work on innovative projects and contribute to the development of cutting-edge technology. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and supporting the development of complex technological systems.

The estimated salary for this position is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer competitive compensation and benefits packages, including private healthcare, disability income protection, life insurance, pension plan; and an employee assistance program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing technical interface to customers and subcontractors
  • Capturing, deriving, and managing engineering requirements
  • Developing innovative solutions to engineering requirements
  • Analyzing performance & justifying design choices
  • Providing oversight and supervision to different engineering disciplines during design, integration and test
  • Planning test campaigns
  • Troubleshooting hardware and software for space missions
  • Analyzing test data and writing test reports
  • Delivering verified flight equipment compliant to customer requirements

This role requires 2+ years experience in design, manufacture and test of complex technological systems. You should have experience with optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.

Requirements:
  • 2+ years experience in design, manufacture and test of complex technological systems
  • Experience with optics, optical sensors, and opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Familiarity with formal configuration control methods
  • Knowledge of qualification and acceptance environmental testing
  • Experience with test specification, plan, and procedure development
  • Familiarity with ECSS standards
  • Experience working with systems designed for space environments
  • Experience with Python, Visual Basic, MATLAB/C or C++
  • Hands-on experience of Manufacturing, Assembly and Testing
