Operational Head of Commercial and Procurement

Job Summary:

Smart DCC is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Procurement Operations Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our procurement strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving business value through efficient and effective procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and Implement Procurement Strategy: Work with the Director of Procurement to align a more fit-for-purpose procurement strategy and supporting policy with regulatory bodies, enabling Smart DCC to drive better value for money for customers and consumers.
  2. Lead Change Management: Lead the change management approach across Smart DCC once the procurement strategy and policy have been agreed, with a view to embedding it across the organization.
  3. Interfacing with Stakeholders: Interface with the rest of the procurement team and commercial operations and planning team to meet the demands of external audit.
  4. Technology Implementation: Lead the continued rollout of Ivalua and other key technologies to drive more streamlined and efficient processes, working closely with the SME in the commercial operations and planning team.
  5. ESG and Sustainability: Act as the procurement team SME for embedding Smart DCC's Responsible Business Framework (RBF) within the function and across Smart DCC's supply chain, working with and taking guidance from the sustainability team.

Requirements:

  1. Senior Procurement Experience: Significant senior procurement experience with a demonstrable track record of implementation of streamlined processes, including leadership and development of a small team.
  2. Procurement Policy Development: Drafting and refining best-in-class procurement policies with an understanding of regulated and non-regulated procurement and sourcing environments.
  3. ESG and Sustainability: An understanding or implementation of ESG via sourcing that aligns with the Net Zero aims by the UK Government.
  4. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: A dynamic, forward-thinking self-starter, who can drive performance and best-practice procurement within a changing and evolving environment.
  5. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and proven ability to work in an open/auditable way fitting to a regulated environment, including extensive risk management experience.
