We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist in Mental Health to join our team at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust in Shropshire.

The successful applicant will have a minimum 2:1 degree in psychology and be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to working with older people and/or individuals whose lives have been impacted by dementia.

As an Assistant Psychologist in Mental Health, you will be responsible for delivering individual client work under appropriate supervision across all aspects of the service from assessment to adjustment, carer support, behaviours that challenge and end of life care.

You will also be involved in the administration and scoring of psychometric tests as part of the diagnostic process for newly referred clients and supporting our team in the provision of post-diagnostic support for service users and carers.

This role offers a diverse range of experiences and opportunities for professional development, including continuing professional development within the dementia service and in the wider Trust.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Use of psychometric assessments and report writing
  • Information gathering and note-taking
  • Working with carers (paid and informal) to gather relevant information
  • Direct therapy work (e.g., anxiety management)
