Apprentice Commercial Quantity Surveyor

M Group Services is seeking a highly skilled Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Commercial Department and project team to maximize profit and reduce risk.
Key Responsibilities:- Compile relevant information for preparation of reports and claims to agreed timescales.
- Assist with the implementation of commercial applications and develop lasting relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and monitor the risk register and related documentation.
- Manage sub-contractor relationships, ensuring compliant quotations and documentation, and produce assessments, variations, and final account agreements.
- Stay up-to-date with commercial issues and contract law to manage compensation events, variations, and claims.
- Develop processes to increase accuracy and efficiency, minimizing time-consuming tasks.
- Liaise with the Commercial Manager and Quantity Surveyor(s) to ensure commercial cover is maintained.
- Assist the team and Project Manager in recovering contract costs and enhancing project profit.
- Produce monthly project financial and forecast reports for analysis with Finance staff and Commercial Staff.
- Develop negotiation skills and attend handover and progress meetings.
- Help produce a site commercial manual and documents to record variations.
- Comply with company policies and procedures, including OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
- Undertake any other duties as necessary to meet business demands and satisfy customer needs.
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills and financial awareness.
- Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Contract costing and contract law knowledge (NEC3/4).
- Previous experience in Quantity Surveying or Cost Clerk roles.
- Contract experience, capturing site records for variations and valuations.
- Sub-contract management and cost/value reconciliation skills.
- Qualification in Quantity Surveying and graduate or 'graduate calibre' status.
- Full UK driving license and knowledge of the industry.
- 25 days' annual leave plus 8 days' bank holiday.
