Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the College's strategic objectives and engage in the annual review process.
  • Stay up-to-date with national developments in the subject area and update your knowledge and skills annually.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons to achieve effective management of the learning process.
  • Use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students.
  • Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident, and valued.
  • Establish and maintain procedures with students that promote and maintain appropriate behavior, communication, and respect for others.
  • Set, mark, and record work in accordance with College and School Assessment policies.
  • Track all students' progress and attendance in accordance with agreed College systems and policies.
  • Provide a balance of appropriate teaching styles and learning experiences.
  • Be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and play an appropriate part in their implementation.
  • Liaise with the Head of School and Deputy Head of School in contributing to the design of programs and teaching approaches that will enable curriculum areas to achieve high standards and value added.
  • Liaise with the Head of School and Deputy Head of School and the wider curriculum teams in contributing to the administration necessary to support teaching, learning, and assessment within the subject area.
  • Review your own professional development needs and participate fully in future training and development.
  • Communicate and consult with parents, carers, and students, including Parents' Evening, Welcome Evenings, events, and open evenings.
  • Ensure that all students in the subject area comply with College's policies and procedures.
  • Provide enrichment opportunities that are exciting, motivating, and enhance the student experience.
  • Ensure learners are supported with a well-prepared VLE and resources for independent study.
  • A knowledge and appreciation of the different needs of learners and effective strategies to ensure all learners make progress.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
  • Educated to Level 6, e.g., Degree in a related field or significant industry experience.
  • Knowledge and links to the relevant industry within the city region.
  • Proven relevant experience of curriculum planning, development, and delivery across UAL courses (specifically Foundation and Level 3/2).
  • Proficient within a range of Art and Design practices.
  • A recognized Teaching qualification.
  • Excellent computer literacy – ability to use the current IT programs of the College.
  • Engaged and passionate about Continuing Professional Development.
  • Minimum of Level 2 Literacy/Numeracy.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills, an effective member of a team.
  • Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues, and for themselves.
  • Strong understanding of the importance and impact of feedback on learner performance.
  • Experience using ICT to support and enhance subject delivery.
  • Outstanding teacher who is student-centered.
