Job Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Quarry and Recycling Manager to lead our team at our Lockington Quarry, located near Derby in Derbyshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the environmental, safety, and operational standards of the quarry and recycling area, with a focus on cost control, contractor management, and performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the contract crush and earth works contractors
  • Deliver toolbox talks and ensure compliance with business policies and procedures
  • Manage all aspects of daily environmental, sustainability, and operational requirements of the quarry and recycling area
  • Ensure the permitted recycling area is operating compliantly in-line with its environmental permit/waste management license
  • Drive operational performance through KPIs
  • Timely resolution of queries assigned to the sector
  • Take responsibility for their own safety and that of colleagues and business partners
  • Maintain site housekeeping to a high standard
  • Responsible for the budget in relation to the plant you are responsible for, including both fixed and variable costs

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of:

  • Quarry operations
  • Environmental, sustainability, and recycling programs
  • Previous experience in a Sand and Gravel Quarry environment
  • Previous experience in a recycling environment
  • Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
  • Working knowledge of H&S and Environmental policies
Desirable Qualifications
  • A role-associated degree in Environmental or Sustainability would be highly beneficial
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations
  • WAMITAB or equivalent qualification
