Job Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Quarry and Recycling Manager to lead our team at Lockington Quarry, located near Derby in Derbyshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the environmental, safety, and operational standards of the quarry and recycling area, with a focus on cost control, contractor management, and performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the contract crush and earth works contractors
  • Deliver toolbox talks and ensure compliance with business policies and procedures
  • Manage daily environmental, sustainability, and operational requirements of the quarry and recycling area
  • Ensure the permitted recycling area operates compliantly in-line with its environmental permit/waste management license
  • Drive operational performance through KPIs
  • Resolve queries assigned to the sector in a timely manner
  • Take responsibility for their own safety and that of colleagues and business partners
  • Maintain site housekeeping to a high standard
  • Manage the budget for the plant, including fixed and variable costs

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of:

  • Quarry operations
  • Environmental, sustainability, and recycling programs
  • Sand and gravel quarry environments
  • Recycling environments
  • Risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Health and safety and environmental policies
Desirable Qualifications
  • A role-associated degree in environmental or sustainability
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations
  • WAMITAB or equivalent qualification
