About the Role:

The Materials Technology Centre is a group of highly specialised teams that employ qualified and experienced metallurgists, welding engineers, and non-metallic material specialists. This team combines theoretical and practical application of materials science to set material strategy and policy across a wide range of materials and production processes for both submarine projects and adjacent business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Materials Strategy Lead to join our team in Barrow-In-Furness, where you will be responsible for the management of a highly specialised team with metallurgists, non-metallics, and welding engineers.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science/Materials Engineering, or Welding
  • Experience of research and development projects and/or project management
  • A good understanding of UKAS laboratory environments
  • A Chartership or evidence of working towards it
