Job Summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a highly skilled Renal Technologist Assistant to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing maintenance, repair, and support services for a wide range of renal devices, including highly complex patient-critical equipment located in various clinical settings across the organization.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be based at Morriston Hospital and will work independently in areas of equipment within their competency. They will have the knowledge to differentiate between technical and clinical problems and have authority to refer problems to suitably qualified colleagues.

Primary duties include performing duties to help maintain the service, such as water testing, basic first-line maintenance, changing of filters, electrical safety testing, and assisting the Renal Technologists with their tasks. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.

  • Planning and prioritizing work, including non-routine breakdown requests
  • Dealing with emergencies arising with equipment

Person Specification:

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential

  • Meets minimum relevant qualification/knowledge of medical device management/quality

Desirable

  • Previous engineering experience/knowledge of haemodialysis

  • Experience in repair or maintenance of equipment/organizing repair or maintenance/IT systems experience

  • Experience of hydraulic/electrical working/quality management systems
