Job Title: Financial Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at JD Sports. As a Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts, completing variance analysis, and assisting with the production of Group reporting packs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for store variable costs
  • Complete detailed variance analysis with supporting commentary and evidence
  • Assist with producing monthly, half-year, and year-end Group reporting packs
  • Produce monthly balance sheet reconciliations and communicate risks and opportunities to the Retail Finance Manager
  • Assist with the production of monthly store P&L reports and liaise with Retail to highlight variances to budget
  • Analyse key cost areas and provide challenge to the retail/procurement teams
  • Regular meetings with Retail/Procurement to gain an understanding of expected costs and highlight issues as they arise
  • Assist the Commercial Finance team with the production of annual budgets and quarterly reforecasts for store variable costs
  • Assist with the implementation of controls in line with the Group's Financial controls programme
  • Assist with audit queries
  • Ad hoc project work as required

Requirements:

  • Part Qualified/Finalist CIMA/ACA/ACCA accountant
  • Experience of management accounting essential
  • Strong analytical skills required to identify and remediate risks
  • Ability to investigate, understand, and explain variances and overall business performance
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal required
  • Ability to prioritise workloads to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work under your own initiative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using Power BI/Power query advantageous
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Retail industry experience desirable
  • Experience of Oracle Financials and TM1 useful (though training will be provided)
  • A positive, flexible, enthusiastic, and driven attitude
