Position Summary

The Distributed AI group in SAIC Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Engineer to collaborate with research scientists and engineers on cutting-edge research projects. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of internal research tools, implement and extend research ideas, and realize research prototypes into demos and minimum viable products.

Role and Responsibilities

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and deploying embedded and distributed machine learning systems for real-world applications in vision and language. You will work closely with the research team to develop and implement new algorithms and techniques, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into existing systems.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX) and efficient machine learning techniques
  • Experience with deployment on embedded and mobile devices (ML inference and/or training)
  • Experience with distributed and multi-GPU training at scale
  • Fluency in Python, C/C++, and GNU Linux
  • Experience working as a member of a team

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with real-world system deployment and maintenance
  • Hands-on experience with networking stack and communication protocols
  • Experience with computer vision in real-world settings (e.g., AR/VR, smart homes, and robotics)
  • Experience with large-scale NLP research
  • Android Operating System and Android app development
  • Robot Operating System (ROS)

Contract Type: Permanent

Job Location: Cambridge, UK

Hybrid Working: Standard working week will be 3 days onsite and 2 days working from home if preferred
