Job Title: Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant

Job Summary:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to provide support to children with autism in a Sheffield-based school. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with autism and a strong understanding of their needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with autism, helping them achieve their educational and social goals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure students receive tailored support.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers and other support staff to create an inclusive learning environment that promotes social skills and behaviour management.
  • Support students in managing their behaviour and developing social skills, including communication and emotional regulation.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources to ensure students have access to engaging and relevant educational content.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents to ensure students receive the support they need.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with autism or in a similar role.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a strong understanding of the needs of children with autism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, with a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
