About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team as an Operational Project Manager. This is a key position that will work closely with managers and leaders across our Trust to ensure effective project and programme delivery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of our £5 million capital investment scheme, which includes extending our Medical Assessment Unit, relocating the discharge lounge, and reconfiguring our existing estate to support specialty assessment.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong organisational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to lead and motivate a team.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Plan, support, and monitor the development of plans for the implementation of key strategic projects, working closely with directors, service managers, and clinicians.
  2. Take the lead on specific aspects of activity analysis and modelling, and business case development.
  3. Be responsible and accountable for maintaining a reporting framework to keep the Programme Board Group and Senior Responsible Officers (SROs) regularly appraised of progress against work stream plans, key risks to delivery, and actions to mitigate those risks.
  4. Maintain a programme risk register to manage programme/project risks and ensure interdependencies are visible and effectively managed.
  5. Influence, motivate, and negotiate with others at an executive and operational level across multiple organisations to establish effective collaboration.
  6. Provide challenge and support to operational managers/leads, make judgements and decisions relating to the management of the programme, and take proactive action where work streams are failing to meet key milestones/targeted levels of improvement.

Person Specification
  • Educated to master's degree level or equivalent experience.

Experience
  • Worked in the NHS at a senior level.
  • Proven successful track record in leading and supporting the delivery of a complex programme of change in a senior position; Programme management using standardised methodology.
  • Business planning and knowledge of NHS finance regimes.
  • Practical experience of planning and leading projects.
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence to Board level.
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes.
  • Experience of managing a range of conflicting demands and competing stakeholders in a politically sensitive environment.
  • Good track record of internal and external partnership working.
  • Proven application of project/service improvement tools and techniques to improve health services.

Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 per annum (subject to job matching).
