Job Description

We're currently seeking an experienced Risk Mitigation Professional to join our team. As a key member of our fire safety department, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing effective fire safety policies and procedures to minimize risks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Develop and Maintain Fire Safety Policies: You'll design, review, and maintain risk-based fire safety policies and strategies to comply with statutory fire safety legislation and Railway Group Standards.
  2. Lead Fire Safety Training: You'll develop fire safety training policy and oversee the technical input into fire safety and awareness training courses to improve staff competency.
  3. Integrate Fire Safety Requirements: You'll lead the integration of fire safety requirements into engineering standards and serve as the key contact for the Business-Critical Rules program for fire safety.
  4. Competency Frameworks: You'll develop and implement competency frameworks and specify engineering discipline training needs to integrate and coordinate activity across different engineering disciplines.
  5. Measure Effectiveness: You'll develop and implement methods to measure the effectiveness of fire safety management and provide visibility of fire risks.
  6. Technical Leadership: You'll set strategy within the technical engineering area, liaising with experts internally and externally, including regulatory bodies.
  7. Project Delivery: You'll lead and support project teams in delivering relevant programs within cost, time, and budget to support the business in meeting safety policy and standards.

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • Chartered Fire Engineer (CEng): You must be registered or able to achieve chartered status within 12 months with the Institution of Fire Engineers.
  • Degree in Fire Engineering: You must have a degree in fire engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Membership: You must be a professional member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE).
  • Significant Experience: You must have significant experience in applying performance-based design to complex facilities.
  • Leadership Skills: You must have the ability to lead, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders and translate complex engineering issues into easy-to-understand language.
