About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled General Counsel to join our client, a leading education institute, as a permanent member of their Contract and Legal Services team.

The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor with a current Practicing Certificate from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and substantial post-qualification experience, ideally with a background in higher education or other complex, regulated environments.

As a strategic leadership role, the General Counsel will report directly to the University Secretary and advise the University on all matters with significant legal implications, risk, compliance, and policy.

The ideal candidate will have experience in team leadership and be able to lead and advise on all legal matters related to the University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and advise on all legal matters related to the University
  • Advise on all matters with significant legal implications, risk, compliance, and policy
  • Report directly to the University Secretary

Requirements:
