About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work with children and young people with brain and spine tumours, providing expert nursing care and support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage the health needs of patients with brain and spine tumours, including identifying and initiating appropriate steps for effective care.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring that patients receive high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to meet the objectives of the NICE Improving Outcomes Guidance for Children and Young People with Cancer.
  • Provide education and training to other staff and students, promoting best practice and improving patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice, staying up-to-date with current research and guidelines.
  • Participate in clinical audit and research initiatives, ensuring that patient care is informed by the latest evidence and best practice.
  • Collaborate with primary and secondary care teams to ensure seamless care transitions and effective communication.
  • Act as a role model and mentor, supporting the development of nursing practice within the team.
  • Contribute to the development of nursing practice within the specialist team, promoting excellence and innovation in patient care.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with cancer or other complex health needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, with a desire to stay up-to-date with current research and best practice.
