Role Purpose

To assist in the preparation and completion of accurate tender offers that identify the most competitive market price for a particular project, enabling ISG to secure new work that achieves tender profit targets. Collaborate with the ISG bid team to ensure that information is shared to ensure that the tender represents what is described in the proposal documents. Maintain good relations with the supply chain to ensure that they continue to service ISG with quality competitive tenders.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Establish a close relationship with the Estimating Director, Managing Estimator, the estimating team, winning work team, and delivery team members to ensure smooth running of the systems.
  2. Comply with Estimating Best Practice processes.
  3. In collaboration with the Estimator responsible for the tender, assist with the preparation and scoping of tender packages into suitable trade packages, warm up the supply chain, and then progress chase to ensure a suitable number of tenderers return quality tenders.
  4. Prepare detailed bills of quantities to allow tenderers to price works accurately.
  5. Compile tender comparisons to ensure only complete subcontract bids are considered.
  6. Schedule clarifications, qualifications, and exclusions so that they are considered.
  7. Assist with the preparation of risk and opportunities schedules for every tender.
  8. Assist with the handover of tenders that are won to the project team and maintain contact to ensure all knowledge is successfully transferred.
  9. Work with the supply chain to ensure they continue to provide competitive tenders, ensure delivery teams are aware of those sub contractors that have contributed to ensure they are given a fair opportunity to secure work with ISG when a tender is successfully secured.
  10. As directed, give 'agreed' feedback to the supply chain.
  11. Contribute to the database of tenders for historical data and average rates.
  12. Assist with providing cost planning and other cost advice both internally and to consultants if required.
  13. Develop relationships with internal stakeholders.
  14. Develop relationships with consultants and other customers.

  4. Desire to learn new processes and procedures.
  5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff at all levels.

  7. Ability to travel when required.
  8. Good organisational skills.
  9. Developing knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook desired.
Qualifications
  1. You will have at least 104 UCAS points from your A-Levels or a relevant BTEC, ideally including a maths or science subject or a construction-related Level 3 BTEC Diploma with scope to learn and grow throughout the duration of the five-year programme, recognising that this time is used to make you an expert in your field to flourish and progress your career further once promoted off the scheme.
Apprenticeship Programme

Our five-year apprenticeship programme provides exposure to all aspects of Estimating. In all these areas, you can look forward to a balance of hands-on experiences and academic learning.

  1. The programme will see you developing knowledge of construction industry processes, skills for accurate measurement and billing of tender information, the ability to identify and evaluate risks, planning and process management skills, and building out knowledge of different procurement routes, including design and build.
  2. We'll sponsor you to complete a relevant degree, and you'll have access to ongoing training and development to help reach your career ambitions.
