Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Main Purpose of the Job:

The NBI Partnership is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team in the Cellular Genomics and Decoding Biodiversity Institute. The successful candidate will engage in primary research, working closely with external partners to investigate the genomic and cellular bases of adaptation to environmental challenges in vertebrate species.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the production and analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data, encompassing population and single-cell data as part of the project.
  • Conduct research tasks and participate in data analysis associated with objectives set as part of the Cellular Genomics and Decoding Biodiversity ISPs.
  • Develop analytical pipelines for the reproducible handling and analysis of omics diversity data.
  • Prepare results, reports, and manuscripts for publication in leading scientific journals and other relevant media.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Institute in the development of original and world-class research, including contributing to research proposals and grant applications.
  • Disseminate research findings through presentations to various audiences at internal, national, and international meetings.

Person Profile:

Education & Qualifications:

PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related subject.

Specialist Knowledge & Skills:

Experience of molecular biology techniques, DNA/RNA sample preparation for NGS, comparative genomics analyses, transcriptomics, epigenomic, genomics analyses, Linux, shell scripting, and at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Perl, R.

Relevant Experience:

Experience in genomics or genetics projects, evolutionary biology and developmental biology projects, genome sequencing and analysis.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills:

Ability to follow instructions/Standard Operating Procedures, work independently, use initiative and problem-solving skills, excellent time management and organisational skills, excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to present complex information with clarity, and good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
