Senior Healthcare Support Worker Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our team in the Oncology and Haematology Outpatients department at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality care and support to patients, families, and carers in a safe and supportive environment. They will work closely with registered practitioners to deliver a high standard of care and contribute to the smooth running of the department.

The role involves acting as a coordinator for the shift, organizing the day-to-day running of clinics, transport, and patient care. The successful candidate will also assist doctors and specialist nurses in clinic, chaperone patients during consultations, and take blood tests and other laboratory samples.

The team of Nursing Assistants/Phlebotomists is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the department and ensuring that all equipment is stocked and available for each clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and work closely with registered practitioners to deliver high-quality care to patients, families, and carers.
  • Act as a coordinator for the shift, organizing the day-to-day running of clinics, transport, and patient care.
  • Assist doctors and specialist nurses in clinic, chaperone patients during consultations, and take blood tests and other laboratory samples.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the department and ensure that all equipment is stocked and available for each clinic.
Requirements
  • Significant experience of the NHS and/or health/child care.
  • Evidence of the Care Certificate or commitment to achieve on joining the Trust.
  • Excellent communication skills and a caring approach.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

We offer a competitive salary of £24,071 to £25,674 per annum, plus a range of benefits, including a pension scheme and access to training and development opportunities.
