The Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join their team as a Prison Mental Health Specialist. This exciting opportunity is based in HMP Peterborough, where you will be part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary staff team that works in partnership across prison, healthcare, and Forensic Psychology services.

This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with complex mental health needs. As a Prison Mental Health Specialist, you will provide individualised assessment, care/management plans, and risk assessment for a small caseload of patients. Your expertise will help reduce the negative impact of violent and disruptive behaviour in prisons.

You will be required to input into internal and external meetings regarding clients who are part of the Enhanced Support Service (ESS). The post-holder will be a valuable resource to staff across healthcare and the wider prison, providing advice and support to ensure best outcomes. You will also contribute to the design, implementation, and successful delivery of this service.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree or equivalent level of experience in a related field. They should also possess clinical experience of assessing, treating, and supporting individuals with personality disorder. A Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience working in a similar setting is highly desirable.

In addition to your clinical expertise, you should have excellent organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Experience of teaching, training, and supervision, as well as knowledge of current challenges and developments in Prison health, would be an asset.
