NHS Nursing Role

We are a dynamic healthcare provider seeking an experienced and skilled Practice Nurse to join our clinical team. Our practice consists of multiple Partners, General Practitioners, ACP's, Nurses, and HCA in our clinical team, as well as our Operational/Practice Manager, HR Manager, Care Co-ordinator, and Reception/Administrative team.

You will be working closely with the team to achieve the highest level of care towards our patients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in and performing routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs.
  • Asthma and COPD specialist.
  • Knowledge of diabetes management.
  • Cytology procedures.
  • Removal of sutures.
  • ECGs.
  • Venepuncture.
  • Ear syringing.
  • Routine immunizations and childhood immunisations.
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients during examinations.
  • Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings.
  • Requesting pathology tests, such as urine culture and swabs.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate.
  • Clean and sterilise equipment using autoclave monitoring.
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs.
  • Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking, and rotating items as required.
  • Maintaining general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms.
  • Participate in administrative systems in the Practice.
  • Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
  • On occasion, there may be a requirement to undertake home visits.
Confidentiality and Health & Safety:
  • Patient confidentiality is paramount.
  • The post-holder must maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Responsible for hand hygiene across the practice.
  • Ownership of infection control and clinically based patient care protocols.
  • Identifying risks involved in work activities and managing those risks.
  • Keeping work areas clean and sterile.
  • Waste management including collection and handling.
Person Specification:
  • Experience of working within a nursing team.
  • Experience of working in Primary Care.
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy.
Estimated Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annumLocation: South Normanton and Pinxton
