RINA's Defence Consulting division is seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineering Consultant to join a specialist team, working on Defence projects across naval platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and shape RINA's Safety and/or ISA capability, providing world-class safety advisory services to the Royal Navy.

This role can be based in our Southampton, Chippenham, or Leatherhead offices, with RINA adopting a smart/hybrid working approach. Moderate travel across the UK is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Maritime Safety Engineering projects to ensure timely delivery, within budget, and to the required quality.
  • Manage projects individually or with a small team.
  • Support bids, proposals, analysis, and report writing.
  • Promote RINA's Safety capability to customers, providing expert counsel through face-to-face liaison, relationship building, and presentations.
  • Assist the Safety management team in augmenting safety capability to meet new and emerging market demands.
  • This is not a Health & Safety (HSE) role.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least four years' experience in safety engineering management solutions in high-hazard environments.
  • Knowledge of UK MOD maritime/naval platforms or civil marine environments.
  • Experience in conducting Hazard & Safety Risk Analysis or Independent Safety Assurance (ISA) projects and developing safety cases.
  • Experience with Safety Engineering tools such as Reliability Workbench, ASCE, BowTie, Event Tree Analysis, or Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Some working knowledge of Defence Standard 00-56 and regulations, including DSA02-DMR.
  • Ideal understanding of UK MOD frameworks (i.e. Aurora) and ASEMS, POSMS, and POEMS processes.
  • Engineering background and UK Security Clearance or British citizenship with vetting preparedness.
