As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and legality of products in line with legislative and customer requirements.

You will be the implementation of company processes and procedures to ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices and hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Health and Safety: ensuring safe working practices are followed by personnel at all times, and reporting any health and safety issues to the Quality Manager/Shift Manager.
  • Food Safety: understanding the principles of HACCP, food safety risks, and controls in place to minimize these risks, and communicating food safety issues with relevant departments.
  • Product Quality: ensuring high-quality output of products and maintaining high standards established by the company.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Completing hourly line quality assurance checks, including weight verification, labeling checks, and ensuring product quality attribute standards are met.
  • Completing hourly metal detection CCP checks, including start and end of run.
  • Printing and signing off all labels used within manufacturing, including those for raw materials and work in progress.
  • Updating the hold log as required.
  • Setting up the manufacturing line and completing visual checks on hygiene prior to the next run.
  • Signing off all stages of the hygiene clean down.
  • Collecting samples for microbiological testing.
  • Collecting retained samples for EOL testing and retention for each product run.
  • Completing analytical tests on each production run for salt analysis.
  • Completing moisture tests on raw materials and finished products.
  • Completing daily inputting into manufacturing systems, such as production record and lot numbers if required.
  • Verifying coding line start-up checks on the sandiacres.
  • Printing production paperwork for each product run, assigning the correct Julian code.
  • Operating the checkweighers, allowing program setup and end-of-line till roll print checks to be completed.
  • Completing goods inward checks against the QAS specification.
  • Daily and weekly scale calibrations.
  • Daily and weekly glass and plastic audits.
  • Be able to explain, issue, complete, check, file, store, and retrieve QA/audit documents.
Qualifications and Skills

Required qualifications include:

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety
  • Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Manufacturing

Desirable skills include:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft applications
