UX Strategist

Job Overview:

DataCareers seeks a highly skilled Design Systems Manager to lead the design and delivery of complex services and drive strategic direction. This 3-month contract role is based in Brighton and requires a strong background in User Centred Design, Service Design, and Content Design.

We are looking for an experienced professional to set the quality standard for design outputs across the product lifecycle, ensure alignment with organisational standards, and develop reusable design patterns and systems. The ideal candidate will have expert knowledge of user-centred design principles and methodologies, as well as experience developing and applying design systems across multiple services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of multiple or highly complex services, ensuring high-quality design outputs, and aligning them with organisational standards. They will also develop and maintain reusable design patterns and systems, mentor and manage user-centred design practitioners, and build strong networks within and outside DataCareers to share knowledge and best practices.

Requirements:

• Expert knowledge of user-centred design principles and methodologies.
• In-depth understanding of inclusive design and accessibility standards.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma) and knowledge of frontend development.
• Experience in developing and applying design systems across multiple services.
• Proven experience designing and iterating user-centred services across multiple channels.
• Ability to think strategically about service design and evaluate end-to-end solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to effectively advocate for user-centred design.
• Experience working in agile environments and guiding teams through the product lifecycle.
• Expertise in mentoring and leading teams, including contractors and external agencies.

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
