A cutting-edge automotive technology company in Kidlington is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer to join their excellent team. The company is expanding, creating opportunities across the business with plenty of scope for career progression.

Your Role:

This role reports to the CEO and is responsible for the design and integration of electric vehicle conversions and EV conversion kits. You will take overall responsibility for the engineering function at Electrogenic, ensuring that our bolt-in powertrains remain the best-in-class and that their integration within the vehicles is of the highest standard. You will work with our electrical and software engineers, while leading a small team of design engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out detailed mechanical design work, including 3D modelling, prototyping, and design verification testing, while ensuring compliance with automotive industry standards and legal vehicle conversion regulations
  • Select mechanical components with consideration for standardisation, obsolescence, availability, and cost
  • Prepare and present mechanical designs at design reviews, while ensuring design files and information are up-to-date and stored appropriately within the PDM/PLM
  • Liaise with other departments, including sales and marketing, mechanical build, electrical, and production to ensure products are designed for manufacture & assembly and customer requests are handled efficiently
  • Take the technical lead on all projects, coach and support junior engineers in design techniques, define departmental processes, and identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements
  • Ensure all supporting documentation is complete and available such as BoM's, installation guides, etc.
  • Develop effective relationships with all stakeholders, adhere to all company policies and procedures, and consistently apply workplace management and rules

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have

A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline

Automotive experience

Advanced SolidWorks proficiency

Proven track record in leading product development projects

Extensive expertise in designing bespoke automotive projects

Practical experience in assembly and testing

Familiarity of EV systems and battery design is desirable but not essential

Salary offered is negotiable depending on experience, Monday - Friday, 8.00pm, plus onsite parking
