About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and hardworking individual to join our Catering Services team as a Food Service Assistant. As a key member of the ward team, you will be responsible for providing food and beverage services to patients, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, and ensuring a seamless service.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a customer-focused environment and be able to undertake NVQ level 2 in food service. Knowledge of cleaning and hygiene procedures, as well as working practices for providing patient food services, is also essential.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Inform patients about the hospital's food offer and assist them in making an informed choice from the range of foods and beverages.
  2. Order food using electronic ordering devices and liaise with nurses, caterers, and dieticians to ensure patients' nutritional needs are met.
  3. Ensure patients receive appropriate feedback on their food service experience and provide information to the next food service assistant to ensure a seamless service.
  4. Store food in accordance with manufactured guidelines and food safety legislation, and offer patients a choice of hot and cold beverages throughout the day.
  5. Ensure a regular supply of fresh water is provided to each patient and maintain adequate stock levels to meet patient needs.
