Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operational Director to lead the development of the Emergency Department within our esteemed NHS institution. This pivotal role demands a strategic and dynamic individual who can drive operational excellence, enhance patient outcomes, and foster a culture of teamwork and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring seamless integration of clinical and administrative processes to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to develop and implement evidence-based strategies that improve patient flow, reduce wait times, and enhance service efficiency.
  • Team Development: Lead, motivate, and support a multidisciplinary team, fostering a positive, inclusive, and patient-centred work environment.
  • Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient satisfaction, quality of care, and service efficiency, implementing improvements as required.
  • Financial Management: Effectively manage departmental budgets, identifying areas for cost-saving and ensuring financial sustainability.

Qualifications
  • Education to degree level or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
  • Postgraduate management diploma or equivalent in-depth knowledge in a number of management disciplines acquired through training and experience to degree level or equivalent.
Experience
  • Proven experience of managing significant services and budgets.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of NHS system reform policy and other key policy drivers.
  • Experience of managing people and teams.
  • Experience in developing creative solutions to problems.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including generous pension scheme, annual leave entitlement, and access to ongoing professional development opportunities.
