Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Conflict Adviser to join our team at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. As a Conflict Adviser, you will play a critical role in helping to reduce the risks associated with conflict and promote effective conflict prevention, management, and resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain situational awareness through regular analysis and assessment of conflict dynamics, needs, and corresponding response.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, senior officials, and Ministers within the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and other government departments, as well as with external partners.
  • Develop and implement policy and strategies to address conflict and promote peace and security.
  • Provide technical oversight and lead technical advice into the design, delivery, monitoring, evaluation, and learning of conflict projects and programmes.
  • Establish and maintain constructive relationships with key individuals and organizations, including representing the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office with relevant partners and in relevant forums.
  • Maintain cutting-edge understanding of and application of evidence and work to build the capability of others.

Requirements

  • Have a demonstrable track record of delivering conflict outcomes at Expert Level through strong capability in the conflict technical competencies.
  • Be recognized for specialist or technical knowledge and/or skill, underpinned by extensive experience applied in practice on complex issues; connected with other experts.
  • Have significant relevant experience, as outlined in the Conflict Framework linked above.

What We Offer

  • A salary of £53,000.
  • A contribution of £15,354 towards membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
