Job Opportunity: Underwriting Technician

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is seeking an Underwriting Technician to join our team in London. As a key member of our Power Technical Property Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our underwriting processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Underwriting Manager in data management and oversight reporting
  • Review submissions and complete rating tools
  • Conduct catastrophe modeling and review output for Underwriter referral
  • Coordinate with UK Property Underwriting Technicians to ensure seamless support for all Property Teams
  • Assist with coordination with Risk Control
  • Develop and maintain reporting suites and GPW forecasting for the Power Technical Property Team
  • Support Power Technical Property Underwriters with account recording workflow management
  • Work closely with Xceedance to ensure accurate booking information
  • Provide inputs to relevant risk modeling tools
  • Monitor and manage Underwriting file integrity
  • Support management in producing and monitoring portfolio and facility metrics
  • Participate in reporting and external engagement for receivables
  • Represent the Operations function within the Underwriting team
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of commercial insurance experience, preferably in Technical Property
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • In-depth understanding of underwriting practices throughout the policy life cycle
  • Proactive and able to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling highly confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to support and build workflow and process
  • Minimum of A-level experience or equivalent
  • Excellent competence in MS Office applications
