Expert Vocational Qualifications Standards Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Expert Vocational Qualifications Standards Specialist to join our team at Pearson.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of vocational qualifications, standards, and assessment processes. They will be responsible for ensuring that national standards are met and upheld across various programmes within our Principal Subject Areas (PSAs).
This role requires a high level of expertise in specification interpretation, verifier standardization, and assessment monitoring. The successful candidate will work closely with centres to provide support, advice, and guidance on the delivery of Work-Based Learning (WBL) Sports and Coaching qualifications.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Undertaking sampling of assessment and internal verification decisions and records to affirm that national standards have been achieved and upheld.
- Supporting, advising, and guiding centres based on the outcomes of the sampling process.
- Directing centres in the delivery of WBL Sports and Coaching towards meeting compliance requirements.
- Producing reports for centres and Pearson on the sampling undertaken, outcomes reached, and support provided.
- Recommending limited certification, certification deferral, or registration deferral where flawed assessment or internal verification decisions, or processes mean that national standards are not met.
- Producing targeted actions for centres to assist with remedial action where national standards are not being upheld.
- Supporting centres to understand and implement identified actions.
- Reporting back to Pearson and centres following SV activity within agreed service-level agreements.
- Providing source materials for the standardization of centre assessors, internal verifiers, and lead internal verifiers as requested.
About You:
- You hold a formal teaching or training qualification at Level 3 or above.
- You demonstrate substantial recent experience in verification of qualifications within the sector.
- You possess an Assessor qualification, Teaching/Training qualification at Level 3 or above, IQA Award, EQA Award, Significant experience in delivering and assessing vocational qualifications, Lower or higher level assessment and delivery experience across a range of qualifications, and Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the field of assessment and delivery of vocational qualifications.
Requirements:
- A clear understanding of the educational landscape and regulatory requirements for qualifications within the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) and National Qualification Framework (NQF).
- Detailed knowledge of the specifications that comprise the area of expertise for the role.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Ability to edit materials to ensure they are grammatically correct and fit for purpose.
- Excellent communication, written, verbal, IT, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand the implications of decisions taken on Pearson's behalf and not to operate outside the sphere of responsibility defined within this job description.
- Demonstrable people management skills.
