About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Harris Academy Orpington. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of our students, working closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure that every student has access to the curriculum.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support students in 1:1, group, or whole-class situations, ensuring their safety and access to learning.
  • Assist in the development of appropriate resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies, working with teachers to ensure the provision supports each student's learning needs.
  • Evaluate students' progress through agreed assessment activities and provide detailed feedback to teachers.
  • Lead small group sessions and interventions as appropriate, supporting students' personal needs and contributing to creating a purposeful and supportive learning environment.
  • Support with behaviour management, using appropriate strategies in line with academy policy.
Requirements
  • Qualifications to degree level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of strategies in working with young people with challenging behaviours.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace.
  • Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting the learning of students.
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
