About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Assistant to join our team and support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

In this rewarding role, you will play a vital part in creating a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment that enables students to thrive academically.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with Autism, tailoring learning approaches to their individual needs.
  • Use evidence-based strategies to support students' social, emotional, and sensory needs.
  • Help manage classroom activities, ensuring students remain engaged and focused.
  • Support the development of students' communication skills, including through the use of alternative communication methods if necessary.
  • Implement Individual Healthcare Plans (IHCPs) or Education, Care, and Support Plans (ECPs) designed for students with ASD.
  • Foster a calm and positive atmosphere, employing behaviour management strategies when needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to monitor progress and adjust support strategies.
  • Promote independent learning and life skills to empower students in their daily lives.

Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is desirable.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Experience working with students with Autism or as an Autism Teaching Assistant is beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A commitment to helping students overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
