St Helens Council is seeking a highly skilled Moving and Handling Advisor to support a moving with dignity project aimed at reducing double-handed care packages to single-handed care. This initiative has proven to be highly successful, and additional staffing has been agreed upon for 2 years to support the project. To succeed in this role, you must have experience working with individuals who have complex needs. A registered Occupational Therapist or professional with relevant moving and handling skills and training is required, along with the ability to work independently, manage a busy workload, and build strong relationships.
Job Role:
- You will possess knowledge of up-to-date moving and handling techniques, including equipment and a good understanding of complex physical disabilities.
- Experience in providing equipment and major adaptations, as well as good IT skills, would be an advantage.
- Responsibilities include completing moving and handling assessments, detailed risk assessment reports, and offering moving and handling training to formal and informal carers.
- You must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate credibility with professionals from partner agencies.
- Able to assess needs, prepare care plans, and implement accordingly, with a working knowledge of current legislation.
The estimated annual salary for this position is £36,384 based on a 35-hour workweek and an hourly rate of £17.59.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position lasting 2 years. The work location is in-person.
