About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Local Authority Engagement Manager to join our Corporate Affairs Transmission team at SSE Enterprise.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading our engagement with Local Authority Executive Teams, Councillors, and Committees.

You will work closely with colleagues across the business and the wider industry to help meet business objectives and support the transition to net zero emissions.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships internally and externally.

They will also have a deep understanding of the energy industry and/or Local Government, with experience in building alliances with wider stakeholders.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Building, promoting, protecting, and enhancing the profile, aims, values, and reputation of SSE Transmission with key stakeholders through external engagement, communications, public, and media relations.
  • Designing, executing, monitoring, and reviewing Local Authority engagement programmes to build advocacy for SSE Transmission's business priorities.
  • Proactively building alliances with wider stakeholders, advocating on behalf of SSE Transmission's customers and stakeholders, protecting the interests of current and future GB consumers, and tackling the climate emergency.
