About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and efficient Reception/Administrative Assistant to join our team at Stapenhill Medical Centre. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to both the reception and administrative teams, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
Main Responsibilities
1. Sorting and prioritising clinical post for the GP, ensuring timely actions are taken.
2. Extracting relevant information from clinical letters and adding it to patient notes.
3. Arranging appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments for patients.
4. Monitoring and responding to incoming emails, taking necessary actions.
5. Communicating with patients via face-to-face, phone, letter, or email.
6. Undertaking secretarial tasks, including urgent referrals and summary requests.
7. Retrieving and filing papers and notes as required.
8. Ensuring new patients are registered correctly and promptly onto our clinical system.
9. Processing repeat prescription requests received via email, paper, or online services.
10. Managing the loan of blood pressure machines and ensuring their return as per protocol.

We have a team of three full-time Partners, three employed GPs, two Pharmacists, one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses, and one Healthcare Assistant. Essential
- Good general standard of education, including Maths and English qualifications.
- Ability to touch type.
- Computer literacy.
- Good communication and telephone skills.
- Able to prioritise work.
- Keyboard and computer skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Customer care.
- Filing systems (paper and electronic).
- Ability to work well in a team and under pressure.
Desirable
- Experience working within a GP practice, hospital, or other medical environment.
- Medical terminology.
