Main Responsibilities

• Sorting and prioritizing clinical post for the GP team

• Extracting information from clinical letters and adding to patient notes

• Arranging appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments for patients

• Monitoring incoming emails and taking required action

• Communicating with patients face-to-face, over the phone, by letter, or by email

• Undertaking secretarial tasks, such as urgent referrals and summary requests

• Retrieving and filing papers and notes when required

• Ensuring new patients are registered correctly and promptly onto our clinical system

• Actioning repeat prescription requests received by email, paper, or online services

• Loaning out blood pressure machines and ensuring they are returned as per protocol

Person Specification

• Good general standard of education, including Maths and English qualifications

• Ability to touch type and be computer literate

• Good communication and telephone skills

• Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing circumstances

• Customer care and filing systems skills

• Ability to work well in a team and under pressure

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Experience working within a GP practice, hospital, or other medical environment

• Medical terminology and patient information systems skills
