Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Staff Nurse to join our Ophthalmic Outpatients team at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of our ophthalmic services.

Main Duties
  • Assess patients' vision using various techniques
  • Assist in theatre clean room environments
  • Conduct diagnostic tests for patients
  • Perform telephone and face-to-face preoperative assessments for cataract surgery
  • Take on leadership, education, and supervision of the team
  • Lead department huddles
  • Coordinate ophthalmic clinics on a daily basis
  • Contribute to the ophthalmic health of all patients
  • Experience in numerous ophthalmic specialist clinics
  • Involve patients/relatives/carers in the delivery of care
  • Provide and develop a safe quality of care for patients and carers

  • Essential qualifications: RGN/RSCN/RM/RN Child
  • Essential knowledge: Detailed knowledge of professional accountability and NHS issues, importance of equality, diversity, and rights in patient care, evidence of continued learning
  • Desirable qualifications: Evidence of advanced knowledge in specialist field, evidence of practice, additional qualifications in specific area
  • Desirable skills: Evidence of advanced skills in specialist field, evidence of contribution to meetings/discussions outside the team, evidence of leadership skills, evidence of contribution to guidelines/policies, evidence of practice
