About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at Ickworth Park Primary School. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting classroom teachers in delivering high-quality education to our pupils.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the classroom teacher with preparing and delivering lesson materials and activities
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils who may require additional help and support
  • Support pupils' social and emotional development, fostering a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and safe learning environment
  • Supervise pupils during lunch and other activities as required
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events where necessary
Essential Personal Attributes
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English
  • A good level of proficiency in using IT and a confidence with educational software to enhance learning experiences
  • Patient and calm
  • Empathetic and possess a strong ability to understand and share the feelings of others
  • Flexible with the ability to adjust to changing situations and diverse pupil needs
  • Motivation and a positive attitude to the classroom and wider school, inspiring pupils to engage and learn
Desirable Skills
  • A willingness to learn effective strategies to maintain a positive learning environment and manage pupil behaviour constructively and positively
  • The ability to tailor and adapt the learning and resources within the lesson to better meet the varied learning needs of all pupils
  • The capability to effectively assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to support their academic growth
Qualifications and Experience
  • A passion for working with pupils and supporting their educational journey
  • A good level of English and Mathematics at GCSE or equivalent
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child-care would be a plus
  • A willingness to undergo training and professional development to develop your skills in the classroom
  • A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or willingness to obtain one
