Job Summary

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Services Manager to join our team at Ellmer Construction. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing the design, installation, and commissioning of all building services during the pre-construction and construction phases of our projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of building services, including building control systems, energy distribution, energy supply, escalators and lifts, fire safety detection and protection, HVAC, ICT, lighting, lightning protection, refrigeration, security alarm systems, water, drainage, and plumbing.
  • Attend meetings and present feedback and progress reports to managers and clients.
  • Inspect, test, and check installations.
  • Conduct QA reporting.
  • Ensure building regulation compliance.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance.
  • Work to ensure sustainable environmental operations by reducing wastage to a minimum within the building services.
  • Advise clients on how the building services will operate once the building is complete.
  • Operate and fault diagnose using building Management System (BMS).

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate with at least 5 years of engineering experience and a proven track record of working in a similar environment. The ideal candidate will hold a Building Services Engineering degree, a valid CSCS card, and be able to demonstrate the following skill set:

  • Time management and organization to allow the management of multiple projects and oversee tasks simultaneously.
  • Team leadership and management skills with the ability to plan and monitor the workload of a team as well as provide challenge and motivation.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of Building services principles with the ability to investigate problems, develop solutions, and monitor effectiveness.
  • Decision-making, analytical thinking, weighing costs and benefits, and applying knowledge to allow the optimum decision to be reached.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities at short notice, reallocation of personnel and resources.
  • Technically strong with an extensive knowledge of services, products, and techniques.
  • Thorough understanding of Health and Safety regulations with the ability to manage and mitigate risk.
  • Commercially aware and able to identify commercial risk and opportunity.
