Commercial Counselor Position

About the Opportunity: This newly created role will bring responsibility for all legal matters in-house, ensuring legal compliance across all areas of business operations while providing strategic legal advice to support business objectives.

Salary: £70-£80k per annum (FTE).

Job Description:

• Job Summary: As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a crucial role in shaping and leading the legal function in-house, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. You will balance a varied workload of legal, compliance, and business regulatory matters.
• Main Responsibilities:

1. Manage commercial contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with legal requirements;
2. Lead the implementation and maintenance of data protection policies and procedures;
3. Work closely with HR colleagues to provide appropriate and timely legal guidance and support on employment law matters;
4. Monitor regulatory developments and advise on regulatory compliance;
5. Collaborate with external partners to manage company secretarial duties.

• A minimum of five years' post-qualification experience in UK commercial law;
• Proven technical knowledge of procurement and supply chain contracts, company secretarial practices, and GDPR regulations;
• Ability to work independently and advise on a variety of matters;
• Experience in managing general insurance programmes and employment law matters is beneficial.
