We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Process Engineer to join our team at Westinghouse Electric Company LLC. in Preston, Lancashire, UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop process drawings, including process flow diagrams and process & instrumentation diagrams/engineering flow diagrams.
  • Produce calculations, including mass, energy, and flow balances, using MS Excel, MathCAD, Pipenet, Aspen Custom Modeler, or other software as required.
  • Review and ensure the quality of design deliverables, ensuring compliance with internal and client procedures.
  • Produce technical documents, such as Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, Method Statements, etc.
  • Take ownership of design deliverables throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning phases of a project.
  • Produce and review CDM Risk Registers.
  • Produce and review documentation required for Technical Files of new products/plant and equipment.
  • Present technical solutions to clients and others in both formal and informal settings.
  • Support in the development of project safety case, including HAZID and HAZOP attendance, production of basis of safety documents (Hazard Management Strategy), and engineering substantiation (design/engineering justification).
  • Develop estimates, deliverables required, and programme logic at bid/tender stage.
  • Manage a team of engineers/designers to deliver the engineering scope as required by the project.
  • Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company's capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organizations.
  • Produce and assess concessions and technical queries.
  • Prepare and review quality plans for single discipline work packages.Requirements:
    • At least 5+ years' experience in the nuclear or petrochemical industry, with at least 2 years at Engineer level.
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or associated discipline preferred.
    • Chartered Member of the IChemE (preferred).
    • Must be legally eligible to work in the UK.
    • Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes, and directives, and how they should be applied, including (but not limited to) Pressure Equipment Regulations, COMAH, COSHH, DSEAR, etc.
    • Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of process design.
    • Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products/plant and equipment.
    • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
    • Understanding of CAE packages.
    • Understanding of systems, including MathCAD, Pipenet, and Aspen Custom Modeler, considered ideal.Qualities:

      • Willingness to mentor more junior engineers and designers.
      • Ability to work effectively in a team.
      • Ability to work well with all levels of management, executive leadership, and support staff.

      • Ability to identify discipline-related design changes and assess their commercial impacts.
      • Ability to motivate others.
      • Strong communicator.
      • Able to produce documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted, and professionally presented.
      • Reinforces nuclear professionalism and Health, Safety, and Environment Standards.
      • Actively promotes a positive delivery-focused culture where exceeding Client expectations is the norm.
      • Maintain own knowledge of new technologies and equipment advances and disseminate such information as appropriate.
      • Proactive and driven approach to work, taking ownership of the tasks required to be completed under their remit.
