Job Title: Education Assistant - SEND

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Assistant to join our team at Academics. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in small groups or one-to-one basis, as directed by the class teacher or SENCO
  • Assist with planning and delivery of lessons, activities, and resources tailored to individual needs
  • Monitor and record progress and achievements of students, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers
  • Promote positive behaviour and social interaction among students, intervening when necessary to manage challenging behaviour
  • Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment conducive to learning and well-being of all students
  • Undertake administrative tasks and other duties as required by the school

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, preferably in a school setting
  • Good knowledge of the national curriculum and different teaching strategies to support students with SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies
  • Positive, empathetic, and patient attitude, with ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Willingness to undertake training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills
