Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a wonderful, flourishing primary school in Bristol. The successful candidate will provide support to students with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities, ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, as directed by the class teacher or SENCO
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of lessons, activities, and resources that are tailored to individual needs
  • Monitoring and recording progress and achievements of students, and providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers
  • Promoting positive behaviour and social interaction among students, and intervening when necessary to manage challenging behaviour
  • Helping to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that is conducive to learning and well-being of all students
  • Undertaking administrative tasks and other duties as required by the school

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children or young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), preferably in a school setting
  • Good knowledge of the national curriculum and different teaching strategies that can be used to support students with SEND
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies
  • A positive, empathetic, and patient attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • A willingness to undertake training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills
